Readers of this site know that I tend to favor car and truck toys that harness kid-power over the battery kind. But the Tonka Mighty Monster RC Dump Truck ($66.49) is a special case. The big yellow dump truck harkens back to the big steel one I had as a kid, but the motorized action mixes here with some functions left to old-fashionedd play. If you've got a child in the family who perks up whenever a contruction vehicle rolls by, this will be a big hit. Note: the remote is powered by 2 AAA batteries. The vehicle, though, uses a lithium ion battery. I've had problems with built-in batteries in toys in the past. Sometimes they lose their memory and stop charging, particularly if they haven't been used in some time. And then, there is the risk of fire. Whether this vehicle will have these problems I cannot say, but it is something to be considered.
