Review: Turbo Charge Reusable Portable Cell Phone Charger

The Turbo Charge Reusable Portable Cell Phone Charger has found its way into my travel kit. I'm very selective in what goes in there…every ounce counts, and this gadget is worth its weight. Basically, you throw two AA batteries into its case, plug in the adapter cable right for your phone and connect it to your cell phone just as if it was a regular charger. Voila, your dead cell phone has power…even if you're nowhere near an outlet. You can get multiple charges off of a single set of batteries.

I've tried emergency disposable batteries for my cell phone, but the idea of being able to reuse this device and just use standard AA batteries makes sense to me.

They claim that the unit won't overcharge or damage your phone. It didn't hurt mine.

The device comes with eight different adapter cables and others are available on-line. Included are adapters for Motorola, Blackberry, mini-USB, Razr, Samsung, LG, Palm One Treo, Nokia, Sanyo, Sprint Kyocera and Audiovox. The charger also does double duty as an LED flashlight. I wish the adapters were built into the unit or, at least, a small travel bag was included. I just know that by the time I need this with another phone I'll have no idea where those other adapters have gone. Trust me, next time you're on a camping trip with a dead phone or at an airport where all the outlets are being used by other laptop warriors, you'll be happy you invested in this device.
