Review: Master of Illusion

Aspiring Houdinis will find some fun in this collection of tricks and card games for the Nintendo DS. Players must earn magic tricks by playing various card solitaire card games.For would-be magicians more interested in learning tricks than cards, this dribbling out of tricks will certainly be frustrating. Parents who might be willing to support a child’s interest in learning magic, might not be interested in fostering a compulsive, rewards-based approach to solitaire. Frankly, I would have perfered more magic lessons and less reliance on the card games. More tutorials and tricks would have been shown the DS platform as a potential learning device. Nevertheless, the program will be good fun as a travel game, giving ample opportunity for the kids to “amaze” as they master new tricks, using the DS as an able assistant.
