Photobook Creator

Now you can make professional looking bound photo books - the same kind you may have created on line at some photo sites - with the Photobook Creator Kit.

The process of creating a hard bound photo book couldn't be easier. First, design your photo pages by selecting from the different types and sizes of covers that Unibind manufactures: 5x7 landscape, 8x8, 12x12 or 8.5x11 landscape or portrait. Unibind makes covers in black and white, and with and without a front cover cut out that reveals the photo on the first page. They also sell red and white covers for the holidays. When bought in bulk, the large black or white hardcovers run about 9 dollars each.

You can layout your photos using the software included or any layout program. That is the beauty of this system - you have complete control and print on whatever paper you choose. After printing the pages, 10 - 20 pages are recommended, you load them into the cover and put the package into the binder. Wait for the unit to heat and then cool and in about two minutes you're done. Boy, these books look great.

This is obviously a product priced for people who intend to make multiple photo books a year and for those who need to print without the time of uploading to a photo site and waiting for the turn around. It also gives users ultimate flexibility to mix photos and text, use any software, and print at any resolution.

My only reservation about the product is that the book binders are not rated as to expected life or as "acid free". Therefore, I can't vouch for the long-lastingness of the photobooks as a long term archive medium.

For digital photographers, the Photobook Creator is an essential piece of hardware. Easy to use, producing excellent results, it allows designers the ability to create gift quality presentations in-house, in minutes.
