Forza 3: First Impressions

We've been playing Forza 3 for Xbox 360 non-stop since it arrived.  A full review will follow, but suffice it to say that this is a must have title, reason alone to buy an Xbox 360.  It earns all the superlatives:  innovative, entertaining, sparkling eye-candy, easy to pick-up and play, full of limitless customization for the hard core player. In a genre as oft-visited as racing, garnering these accolades requires real horsepower.

This game was built from the ground up by people who love cars and love video games and understand both to the nth degree.  From the fastest Bentley to the lowest Toyota, each car is exquisitely crafted, demonstrating its own driving character.  Speaking of characters, the AI racers you'll be up against seem to each have their own driving abilities, skills and foibles.  Even when just going against the Xbox, I felt like I was playing against seven other drivers.

One thing that really struck me was that out of the box there were so many cars I could play with immediately.  I also love the idea that you can have the game auto-tune your cars, modify your own vehicles manually, or buy upgrades from experienced players at their store fronts.  Best feature: "Rewind".  If you've ever played racing games you know how frustrating it can be to spin out and then have no chance of catching up to the rest of the pack.  With Forza 3 you just hit rewind and pick up before you encountered problems.  Having had a couple of accidents in real life, I only wish life came with the same button.
