Beyond remote control.

Miposaur towers astride the rest of the robotic kingdom,  the most dynamic toy robotic creature I've ever tested. Lesser robots take away from imagination by imposing scripted activities by virtue of their limited abilities.  The truly magical mechanoids are gateways to storytelling and open ended play, and, in 2015, Mipsoaur is king of the robotic jungle!

At the price point you're not likely to have a pack of these roaming about your house, but at Toy Fair this year I saw several of them interacting more or less autonomously with the tracking ball.  Together they made a very unsettling, and yet highly entertaining, imitation of the way the velocoraptors hunted in packs in Jurasic Park.

If all the Miposaur did was demonstrate his gyroscopic prowess by roll about balancing on two wheels while moving about the room he would be pretty cool.  But Miposaur truly has a bit of personality and that makes him more than a machine.  He quickly jumps the uncanny valley and convinces you that he your robotic pet dinosaur.  He is cute, yet as you play with him you realize that inside that computerized brain he see himself as a giant dinosaur.

There are many ways to interact with Miposaur.  Out of the box, the easiest is to use his tracking ball.  He can chase it like a puppy, or you can use it as a virtual leash to make him follow you, among many other modes.  He can also respond to your visual and auditory commands, if he is in the mood.  You see, Miposaur has three emotional states, and his responses will vary according to how he is feeling!  Finally, Miposaur can be controlled by app.  This, of course, will be the preferred method of older siblings to terrorize younger brothers and sisters by remote control.
